Manawatu Wanganui Region’s finest homes announced

A new build in Foxton and a renovation in Palmerston North have been revealed as this year’s top Manawatu Wanganui homes, winning Supreme Awards in the Manawatu Wanganui Registered Master Builders 2015 House of the Year.

Arnott & Arnott Builders took out three regional awards with the Foxton home, including a Gold Award and category win for the James Hardie New Home $500,000 - $650,000, as well as the Manawatu Wanganui Registered Master Builders Supreme Award for the 2015 House of the Year.

Alteration Specialists Manawatu was awarded the Supreme Award for the Manawatu Wanganui Registered Master Builders 2015 Renovation of the Year, as well as a Gold Award and overall category win for the Mitre 10 Renovation Award $250,000 - $500,000.

The judges called Arnott & Arnott Builders’ winning build a well-thought out home built to a high standard.

“This is a light, airy home with no dark spaces. The immaculate attention to detail was particularly impressive,” they said.

“The end result was a very energy efficient home, boasting great use of materials and solar panels. It is well oriented with lovely outdoor living areas and beautiful kitchen, dining and living areas.”

The judges were impressed by the winning Renovation of the Year, saying it offered hidden complexities for the builder which were executed superbly.

“The integration of the renovation work into the existing structure of this home was carried out to the highest level. Attention to the smallest detail saw the builder achieve fantastic retention of character,” they said.

“A great variety of materials and a well-executed kitchen provided a cohesive interior and exterior connection. Well thought out detailing offered careful alignment of timber through to high quality finishing and paint work – this renovation was a pleasure to judge.”

The results were revealed at a gala dinner on Friday 10 July at Awapuni Racecourse in Palmerston North. The winning builders were recognised by members of the Manawatu Wanganui Registered Master Builders Association and members of the local building industry.

There were nine Gold Award winners from the Manawatu Wanganui region which will now be eligible alongside Gold Award winners from up and down the country to become the National Gold Reserve finalists, which will be announced in September.

National category winners and the Registered Master Builders Supreme Awards for Renovation of the Year and House of the Year will be announced at a gala dinner in Auckland in November.

The Awards are made possible through the support of PlaceMakers, Master Build Services, James Hardie, GIB, Nulook, SafetyMate, Carters, ITM, Plumbing World, Resene, Westpac and Mitre 10.
