Ahoy! Westhaven Marina to host open day
Westhaven Marina is hosting a gala open day on Saturday 3 October and invites all Aucklanders and prospective boaties to visit.
“Westhaven is home to 2,000 boats, three yacht clubs, and numerous watersports groups,” says marina spokesperson Tom Warren, “and we’d like to invite people to come down and explore what’s available, talk to our operators and try things out.”
The day will include free ‘have a go’ sessions, paddle board football, boat rides, and demonstra-tions. Westhaven’s yacht clubs will open their doors and answer questions about getting into sailing and boating, and there will be a marine market and car boot sale, interactive games and demo’s from the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust, LegaSea, Auckland Transport, and AJ Hackett Bungy. Visitors will be able to watch the start of the first race of summer, and there will also be guided dock tours, kids games, and free sausage sizzles.
The event will be held from 10am-2pm on Saturday 3 October, rain or shine. To find out more, and to download a program and map, visit westhaven.co.nz
