Fire in Palmerston North
Fire in Palmerston North
Last night there was a serious house fire at one of our Palmerston North properties and we understand there are reports that the smoke alarms may have been removed. However, we are currently unable to confirm this and will provide a further statement once we have more information.
Housing New Zealand provides smoke alarms in all of our homes. We check they are working properly at our regular property inspections and encourage our tenants to immediately let us know if there are any faults.
This is a very traumatic situation for the family and we are working with them to ensure that we can provide them with alternative accommodation that they require.
We have no further information to provide at this stage.
