Hot Rods on the Beach

Hot Rods on the Beach

With over 500 Hot rods, American Classics, Vintage Cars and Trikes expected to assemble for the second “New Brighton Rockabilly Show and Shine” on the New Brighton Beach Car Park Ramps it will be the second time since the 1970’s that such an array of cars will be parked up, soaking in the Rockabilly themed Market, Live Rockabilly Music, food stalls, lavish cars and a Rockabilly Roll Out Hob featuring some of New Zealands best Rockabilly Bands– and that’s just scratching the surface

Co-organiser Carl Taylor says “This event will be the biggest Car Show ever to be put on in Christchurch City in recent times in support of Community Organisations

“We had our test run event last year and could not believe the success we had” Taylor says. The entire event has been funded by locals and local business that want to put New Brighton back on the map, “Our goal is to create an event like no other, this will be the best beach Rockabilly Hot Rod and Vintage event you will ever see. And best of all, right in the heart of New Brighton” Taylor says.

He said that support for such an event was evident from last year’s success and for the first time there will be a Friday Night Cruise to Lyttelton the night before plus an after function held across two Rockabilly Themed Bars in Lyttelton on the Saturday Night

The event will feature some of the most outstanding cars you will ever see and all funds raised go back into the community.

“Not only will you get to see some radical vehicles you will also be able to support the local markets for New Brighton” Taylor said, He believes that this event is a New Zealand first “People love to look at the cars and shop at the markets all in one place, people even go as far as dressing up to the era which is great to see so many people getting into it”
