Young Enterprise Scheme – Regional Awards 2015

Tauranga Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) Regional Awards 2015. The winning team is Casca Enterprises from Otumoetai College. Casca will go on to represent the Bay of Plenty region at the national awards in Wellington on the 9th of December.

Category winners were:

Bay of Plenty Supreme Award Casca Enterprises – Otumoetai College

Supreme Award Runner Up Neeah Enterprises – Otumoetai College

Business Operations Award Magenta – Tauranga Girls College

Customer Service Award Neeah Enterprises – Otumoetai College

Marketing Award Magenta – Tauranga Girls College

Innovation Award EZY Surf Culture – Aquinas College

Manufacturing and Production Award Magenta – Tauranga Girls College

Sustainability Award Tyre Messiah – Aquinas College

Sales Award Casca Enterprises – Otumoetai College

Nationally the Young Enterprise Scheme has over 120 schools, 600+ companies and 2700 students; locally

there are 7 schools and 129 students.

Regional Coordinator Emma Harvey said “the high standard of business ideas this year is exciting. All teams demonstrated excellent business practice, and innovation and sustainability featured very highly in each company.”

Casca Enterprises created Do-Lish, a premix treat for the health conscious which is available in two flavours, raw cacao chocolate and raspberry bliss balls. Made from all natural ingredients, including coconut oil and vanilla bean paste, the mixes are a convenient, delicious and healthy treat.

The runner up team was Neeah Enterprises from Otumoetai College, who produced hanging herb gardens.

Aimed at the home cook who wanted easy access to fresh herbs, which also looked attractive in the home,

Neeah produced the herb gardens themselves from locally sourced supplies.

The Tauranga Chamber of Commerce is delighted to coordinate The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme and congratulates all the students, teachers, mentors and members of the business community who have generously given their time. The support of the local sponsors is also recognised, including Bay of Plenty Polytechnic, Mills Reef Restaurant and Bayfair Shopping Centre.
