Royal Visit to Wellington: Public event info
Wellingtonians and visitors will have an opportunity to welcome back Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall during their first public appearance in New Zealand on this tour.
Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla will lay a wreath at the Hall of Memories at Pukeahu National War Memorial Park, Wednesday 4 November at 4.10pm, joined by Prime Minister John Key and Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown.
Prince Charles will then unveil a ceremonial Commonwealth Walkway brass roundel, representing the next points on the Commonwealth Walkway. One roundel will be installed at the Pukeahu National War Memorial Park and another will be installed at the Parihaka Memorial next to the Dominion Museum building.
Wellington’s Commonwealth Walkway will join a network of cities across the Commonwealth that aim to inspire young people to begin walking more for their physical and mental wellbeing.
Wellingtonians are encouraged to join the occasion at Pukeahu National War Memorial Park. As hundreds of people are expected, please plan ahead and aim to get there early, especially if you want a good view of the visiting Royals.
