Wainadoi Gets A Facelift
Rehabilitation work on one of the rougher riding sections of the Queen’s Road continues this year and is now well underway.
Fulton Hogan Hiways Joint Venture (FHHJV) has commenced work on site at Wainadoi, 25 kilometers out of Suva city. This year it is working on 1.8 kilometers of road, carried out under its contract with the Fiji Roads Authority.
“This section has been in a poor condition for some time now and after preliminary work the construction crew are on site reconstructing the pavement with a new seal soon to follow,” said FHHJV Design Manager Katie Cole.
Wainadoi is a quiet community along the Queens Road, but at one time, in the early 1900s is was a large rubber plantation with remnants of the rubber trees still visible from the road.
The work is expected to be completed within two weeks.
