Sky Tower to glow red, white and blue

Sky Tower to glow red, white and blue

November 14 2015

The Sky Tower will be lit in the colours of the French flag, the Tricolore, tonight, in solidarity with the French nation following the horrific events in Paris today.

SKYCITY Chief Executive Nigel Morrison said he was appalled by the atrocities and the Sky Tower would glow red, white, and blue as a mark of sympathy and respect for the French people.

“I’m sure all of Auckland and New Zealand stands beside France tonight. Lighting the Sky Tower in the colours of the Tricolore is one small way to show we care,’’ Mr Morrison said.

The Sky Tower is one of many major buildings and monuments around the world turning red, white, and blue tonight.

New York’s Empire State Building, the Wembley Arc, London Eye and the National Gallery in London, and City Hall in Rome are also illuminated in sympathy.

The Sky Tower will remain red, white, and blue until Monday.
