Unison and Te Aranga Marae Share Christmas Spirit with
Families in Need
Wednesday 23 December 2015 – Flaxmere families in need will be getting a little something extra this Christmas, thanks to donations by Unison and members of the community.
Flaxmere Councillor Henare O’Keefe, and wife Pam, have been collecting donations of food, clothing, toys and household items on behalf of Te Aranga Marae, to help families in need at Christmas.
“While Christmas is a wonderful time of year for many of us, there are those in our communities that may not be able to afford food and gifts for their families,” said Unison Customer Care Manager, Danny Gough.
“As a
company, we have been supporting the great work Henare and
Pam do in the community through Te Aranga Marae and the
U-Turn Trust for a number of years, and saw this as another
opportunity to make a difference to those in need.”
The
items donated by Unison employees will be distributed by
Henare and Pam prior to Christmas day.
“Christmas can be a very tough time for families struggling to make ends meet. The kindness of people and companies like Unison gives us an opportunity to bring smiles to faces, and to show our community they are not alone, and that we care. That is the most important gift we can give.”
