This afternoon the
Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched Waihi where
two cars had collided head on in the Karangahake Gorge, this
was the second head on the the gorge today. Three patients
received critical injuries in the crash. NZ Fire service
were required to cut some of the victims from the wreckage.
Two patients were airlifted to Waikato hospital by the
Auckland and Waikato Westpac helicopters and one, a 17 year
old Auckland woman, was airlifted by the Trustpower TECT
rescue helicopter to Tauranga hospital in a critical
condition.
