Hospice North Shore seeks author of 30 year-old note
Hospice North Shore is trying to find the writer of a note found in a book donated recently to its Milford store. It has posted a photo of the book and the note on its facebook page, encouraging supporters to share the post and find its owner.
In the note a child named Lynette, is looking for a new friend to write to. At her Glenfield home with the ‘flu she explains writing her note will give her ‘something to do’.
With the book estimated to have been published in the late 1970s, the staff at Hospice North Shore guess that the note’s author may now be in her 40s; perhaps with children of her own.
“We think the writer of the note, or her family, might like to be reunited with this lovely little note,” says Hospice North Shore’s Chief Executive Jan Nichols. “At Hospice we know how important family stories and memories are, so we wanted to do all we could to find the family and offer them the book and the note back.”
Hospice North Shore is a free service that cares for people who are dying and for their families. It offers physical, emotional and spiritual support – mainly in the comfort of each person’s own home.
The charity needs to raise nearly $4 million this year to cover the cost of these services. Its shops across the North Shore make a significant contribution to that effort.
