The Great Pumpkin Carnival
The Great Pumpkin Carnival
Sunday 3 April 2016, Hamilton Gardens
Another hugely successful Pumpkin carnival was held on Sunday.

Bigger crowds, more entries and a bigger pumpkin than ever before.
Tim Harris smashed the NZ Giant Pumpkin record again with his pumpkin weighing in at 789.5kilograms beating his own record by 35kgs from last year of 754.5 kgs. Tim still holds the record for the heaviest pumpkin in the Southern hemisphere.
The record crowds turned out with plenty of entries for giant pumpkins, miniature pumpkins and a huge variety of pumpkin creations.
The new category of “pumpkin racers” was hugely exciting with pumpkins competing against pumpkins down a purpose built track.
The increased number of entries from Schools was heartening as kids learn the enjoyment of growing a seed through to a productive plant.
