GoBay & HBRC reassure SuperGold card holders

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council is reassuring SuperGold card holders that the free off-peak bus travel scheme will continue in Hawke’s Bay despite a recent announcement by Government to cap funding of the scheme.

From 1 July 2016 Government funding of transport under the SuperGold card scheme will change from an individual fare reimbursement to a capped bulk funding model of $28 million nationwide each year.

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council Transport Committee Chairman Alan Dick says HBRC has no plans to change the scheme.

“The SuperGold card travel scheme provides a valuable service to residents and helps to use spare capacity on our GoBay buses during off-peak times.

He says SuperGold card holders can travel on the GoBay bus services free throughout Hastings, Havelock North, Taradale and Napier between 9am and 3pm on weekdays and any time on weekend or public holiday services
