Better Home & Living Show Spotlighting New Innovations
The Hawke’s Bay Better Home & Living Show opens on Friday 27 May and for three days, will shine the spotlight on cutting-edge innovations in home and lifestyle improvement, several of which have been recognised internationally.
The bionic fire, New Zealand’s first fully automatic downdraft burner, will be making its debut at the show. Once this fire is lit, the unique design provides a downdraft automatically, so no further action is required by the homeowner. It has ultra-low emissions and burns on average just 1 kg of wood an hour. The fires are designed and made in Denmark, meaning that their quality and effectiveness is assured. The latest model has only been in the country since mid-March and with its stylish design, looks set to become a Kiwi favourite. Last year it won a Clean Air Achievement Award from the Australasian organisation, CASANZ.
Also on show for the first time in Hawke’s Bay, will be a ‘Make Your Own Skincare Set’ from Archeus. It was a finalist in the UK 2015 Pure Beauty Awards and also in the 2015 Sustainable Business Network Awards. Only organic and natural ingredients are used in the pack, which comes with a booklet explaining how to make the product, along with ingredient information and the legends that surround them.
Another ground-breaker is Scorpio, a new eco range for the home from Harrisons Carpet. It originates from recycled soft drink bottles, but through the manufacturing process, is transformed into luxury cut-pile carpet. The independently tested eco-range is fade and stain-resistant, heavy duty and comes in nine fashion colours. The product took out the show’s ‘Best New Eco Product’ award.
Show director, Daniel Joll says, “We pride ourselves on attracting the latest home and lifestyle innovations to the show. We’re delighted to be helping the launch of these clever new concepts and look forward to bringing together a whole host of other interesting products like electric bikes for kids, fuel-efficient cars and a working worm farm. There will also be a huge range of heating and solar options, plus landscaping, outdoor furniture, home décor, kitchens - and everything in between. There really will be something for everyone and much of what will be on offer will be at a show-only special.”
