Rangi Ruru Performs in Cavell Leitch International Jazz and Blues Festival
Rangi Ruru Girls’ School Jazz Band and Jazz Combo wowed audiences last Sunday when they gave their first performances of the year at the Cavell Leitch International Jazz and Blues Festival.
Director of Music at Rangi Ruru, Janet Kingsbury, says a lot of hard work went into the performances which were extremely well received.
“It was great to see how well the girls engaged with the music and for some it was their first ever performance with the band. All credit to directors Michael Lawrence and Dougal Canard who have worked incredibly hard with the girls to get them to this very high standard so early on in the year,” she says.
Both the Jazz Band and Combo will have the opportunity to show audiences once again what they can do, as they have festivals coming up in the next few months.
