Upper Hutt says “Cheers to our Volunteers”
Upper Hutt City Council will be acknowledging and thanking the city’s many volunteers with a print and digital media campaign during National Volunteer Week 19 – 26 June.
UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 17 JUN 2016—This year’s National Volunteer Week runs from 19 – 25 June. It is New Zealand’s largest celebration of volunteering and civic participation, with events held across the country to recognise the contribution made by volunteers in Aotearoa.
To spread the message of thanks far and wide in our community, Upper Hutt City Council has produced billboards which feature images of Upper Hutt volunteers accompanied by a message of thanks to all of the city’s volunteers. These billboards will feature on community noticeboards at Harcourt Park, Whakatiki Street, Riverstone Terraces, and Totara Park from 17 – 27 June.
His Worship the Mayor, Wayne Guppy says, “It is important to thank our city’s selfless volunteers. Their contribution to our city—whether volunteering once a year, once a week or more often—is much appreciated. Their passion and dedication doesn’t go unnoticed, the work they do contributes toward making our city great.”
In addition to the billboards Upper Hutt City Council is acknowledging the valuable contribution that volunteers provide to our city through a print and digital media Cheers to our Volunteers advertising campaign.
Council’s Community Development Advisor, Denise Johnson says, “I hope that the 2016 Cheers to our Volunteerscampaign raises awareness of the important roles that volunteers play in our community and that residents of Upper Hutt City are encouraged to say ‘cheers’ to individual volunteers or volunteer groups that have touched their lives.”
