Dr. Ashrawi meets with Slovenian State Secretary Darja Bavdaž Kuret

PLO Executive Committee Member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi yesterday met with Darja Bavdaž Kuret, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia and Slovenian Representative Milko Dolinšek at the PLO Headquarters in Ramallah.

Dr. Ashrawi acknowledged Slovenia’s political support of Palestine and its backing at the United Nations, as well as its commitment to a just peace. She also urged the Slovenian government to recognize Palestine in the immediate future.

In the meeting, the discussion focused on the deterioration of conditions on the ground and political options for the future. In that context, Dr. Ashrawi stressed the importance of multilateral engagement, including the French initiative and the need for the EU to ensure the success of such an initiative and the adoption of resolutions by the UN Security Council to end the military occupation and Israel’s flagrant violations of international law and Palestinian human rights.

Both parties also reviewed the importance of reconciliation and free and fair elections in Palestine, as well as bilateral relations and future cooperation between Palestine and Slovenia.
