Auckland Rally in Solidarity with Oaxaca 3/7/16
Rally in Solidarity with Oaxaca this Sunday 3rd July, 2.30pm at Aotea Square in Auckland.
Mexico's southwestern state of Oaxaca has been the scene of ongoing peaceful protests against Governmental education policies that have now turned deadly.
At least ten people were killed in clashes with local and federal police, including a journalist who was there to cover the events unfolding. It is calculated that over a hundred people have been injured so far.
The Mexican Government is responding with force in an attempt to repress the right that teachers and educators of Oaxaca have to protest. They are not only violating a series of Basic Human Rights but have also taken the lives of innocent people, undertaken kidnappings, frozen bank accounts and cut communities from access to petrol and electricity.
These acts have been largely condemned by the United Nations however, no action has been taken by the Mexican Government.
This Sunday, people from all backgrounds will come together to protest against the recent injustices occurring in Nochixtlán, Oaxaca, Mexico.
