Incumbent Mayor Ross
Church is welcoming the decision of distinguished
broadcaster John Howson to stand for Council.
Mr Church, who is seeking a second term as Kapiti Mayor, said that Mr Howson would help strengthen a Council that was making great progress on several fronts.
"Council needs local people who understand our district and have a desire to help our community move forward. He has already shown his commitment to this community with his work on the Kapiti College Board of Trustees.
"His passion for Kapiti will be invaluable as we cement into place the great work done on water supply and water quality, and look to the economic development opportunities afforded by the Expressway.
"The district is moving forward and electing local people of John's calibre will help Council achieve progress while keeping the "Kapiti way of life" that our people want".
