Singapore Airlines Renews Sustainable Coastlines Sponsorship for Third Year
Singapore Airlines will continue its partnership with Sustainable Coastlines Charitable Trust for a third straight year.
To mark the milestone, Singapore Airlines staff, including the new Wellington team, will join Sustainable Coastlines at Elliott Park in Brooklyn Wellington today for a riparian tree planting event.
Singapore Airlines is proud to support Sustainable Coastlines’ large-scale coastal clean-up events, freshwater restoration projects and educational programmes that help to protect the environment around New Zealand and the Pacific.
General Manager, Singapore Airlines New Zealand, Simon Turcotte, said he was pleased to continue the support for Sustainable Coastlines.
“Sustainable Coastlines is a very professional and innovative organisation and we are excited to be be continuing our support and partnership with them for another year,” Mr Turcotte said.
“For us it is a partnership that has a broad range of benefits. It provides an opportunity for our staff across New Zealand to get involved but most importantly it allows us to play an active role in helping to make a difference to the beautiful New Zealand landscape that locals and tourists love.
“The activities that we have taken part in and supported since our partnership began in 2014 have been extremely positive with tangible outcomes. They’ve enhanced our teamwork, educated our people and improved the country’s coastal areas.”
Sustainable Coastlines is an award-winning charity dedicated to healthy waters, beautiful beaches and inspired people. Over the years the charity has collected more than 1,120,000 litres of rubbish, planted almost 30,000 trees and shared its educational message with more than 145,000 people.
Sustainable Coastlines Co-founder and CEO, Sam Judd, says he’s thrilled to have Singapore Airlines’ continued support and looks forward to building on an already strong foundation for the third year running.
“Singapore Airlines makes a great contribution to our efforts to care for our coasts and waterways and to enable Kiwis to look after the environments that they love. The staff are engaged and really get stuck in at our events. We’re excited to have them on board over the next 12 months supporting our endeavours to clean up New Zealand’s coastline.”
Since the partnership began in 2014, Singapore Airlines staff have participated in riparian tree planting projects in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and have been hands-on with gloves and rubbish bags cleaning up the Waiheke Island coastline.
