TPP Action Day build up – Update and Information evening

The Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) is not a done deal yet.

Kapiti TPPA Concern is participating in the build up to the nationwide TPP Day of Action on 10 Sept and have invited Fletcher Tabuteau MP to give a detailed public talk.

Fletcher will speak about some of the worst aspects of the treaty and why his Party (NZ First) is so vehemently opposed to it. The Kapiti group is encouraging everyone to come and find out why this treaty is so bad for your family and future generations of Kiwis.

“There are still a lot of people who have not heard the information necessary to understand why there is such a huge public outcry, nor the long term implications for generations to come. This meeting is for those people. They can bring any burning questions they have” said Kapiti TPPA Concern spokesperson, Amanda Vickers.

Fletcher Tabuteau is the Trade and Commerce spokesperson for the NZ First Party and was the author of two parliamentary bills seeking to offset the worst impacts of this type of deal. Both were voted down. “He is an engaging speaker and passionate about his topic”, said Amanda.

The meeting will also update the public on the present status of the deal and give information about where to from here.

“There’s never been a more important time to participate in our democracy”, Amanda said.

The event is at the Newhanga Kapiti Community Centre, 15 Ngahina St, Paraparaumu. Tuesday 6 Sept 6.30 – 8.30pm. Entry is free. All welcome.
