Road Accident Remembrance Day
Road Accident Remembrance Day I 22 October
2016
The Road Traffic Accident (RTA) Trauma Charitable
Trust is organising the inaugural Road Accident Remembrance
Day a public event which will be held in Hagley Park on
Saturday, 22 October 2016. It will be the first of its kind
combining the Christchurch and the greater Canterbury
Region.
Sarah Dean, Founder of the RTA Trauma Charitable Trust says “through my work with the Trust I have noted as a society we are all affected by the impact of road traffic accidents. I knew more needed to be done to acknowledge the survivors and those that have passed away on the roads but also thank those involved in the emergency response, post care and recovery”.
Sarah’s initiative progressed very quickly with positive responses received from the NZ Police, Fire Service, Order of St John and those within the medical field. Sarah says “although for many attending to the care of those involved in road traffic accidents is deemed as "part of their role" - the impact this has on their them personally should be recognised”.
The event has many dignitaries speaking including the Christchurch Mayor Liane Dalziel. The event will be held on Saturday, 22 October at 10am, North Hagley Park (lake front). Attached is a Programme for the Event.
Sarah is now considering the Road Accident Remembrance Day be a national event.
A "Give a Little" page has been created to support the associated costs of the Event. https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/roadaccidentremembranceday.
