Dead cattle washed up on St Clair Beach
Media advisory re dead cattle washed up on St Clair Beach
ORC’s Pollution Hotline received a notification at the weekend concerning a dead cow which had washed up below the high water tide mark on St Clair Beach. Because of this, ORC engaged a contractor to remove and dispose of the carcass (territorial local authorities are responsible for handling any similar incidents above the high tide mark.)
We also received a call last week about a dead cow being in the surf zone at Tomahawk Beach, but upon investigation the carcass was no longer visible.
ORC has no knowledge of the likely origin of these animals or their cause of death .
