Auckland Future Backs CRL Government Commitment
Auckland Future Backs CRL Government Commitment
Auckland Future, the centre right ticket contesting the
Auckland Council elections, has welcomed the Government’s
50 percent funding commitment for the Central Rail Link.
Auckland Future spokesperson, Cr Denise Krum, said the announcement underscores the importance of having a Mayor and Council team that can work constructively with central government.
It is good news for Auckland that the Government so strongly want skin in the game for urban development around station sites. Clearly they see a return on their investment. What we need now is to back ourselves as a city for wider international investment in other projects and look at innovative private/public partnerships to take the city forward.
“It took four and half years to get a heads of agreement for this project,” she said. “Auckland Future is aiming for a majority of Councillors to ensure collaborative decision making on big ticket items in the future. Clearly a strong working relationship with central government will be of vital importance to the future of the city.”
