Thames community supports critically injured local teen

Press Release

Thames community supports critically injured local teen

The Thames community has rallied to raise funds for Keenan Alexander, 17, who suffered serious spinal injuries during a secondary school First XV rugby semi-final in early August.

Led by the Support4Keenan group, local Thames companies have donated goods and services to a sold-out fundraising auction taking place on October 15th at the Thames Civic Centre.

All funds will go towards the ongoing expenses faced by Keenan and his family, such as accommodation while Keenan attends rehabilitation, and much-needed house and car modifications. Tickets for the auction sold out within days.

Keenan is currently residing at the Auckland Spinal Rehabilitation unit and his long-term prognosis is unknown.

DVS, New Zealand’s most-respected and experienced ventilation company, has donated a Home Ventilation System valued at $3,640. The successful bidder will receive one DVS EC Climate Controlled Home Ventilation System, fully installed.

Thames DVS sales representative Pippa Jackson says: “It’s extremely sad to hear of a young and healthy guy knocked back in such a way. I know our whole Thames community is behind Keenan and doing everything we can to see him fully recover.”

On top of her role at DVS, Pippa is a personal trainer and she has donated ten personal training sessions to the ‘Support4Keenan’ cause.

A givealittle page has also been set up for Keenan: https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/support4keenan
