HBRIC welcomes Council review
Hawkes Bay Regional Investment Company (HBRIC) welcomes a call this week by its owner HBRC to conduct a review of its $80 million investment in the Ruataniwha Scheme and will support the review any way it can.
HBRIC Chairman Andy Pearce said “The scheme has been designed to be a significant contributor to improved river flows and ecological health in the TukiTuki catchment and to the creation of much needed jobs for the region”.
“Confirming the project will deliver on these objectives is a perfectly reasonable request and the timing aligns with an enforced delay whilst the land exchange matter is considered by the Supreme Court” he said.
“Councillors need to have a full understanding of the impact on the regional community if the scheme does or does not proceed.”
"The review needs to deliver certainty so farmers, investors and other key stakeholders know where they stand and can make the necessary plans" he said.
