‘Marine and beach’ tsunami threat lifted in Taranaki
The Ministry for Civil Defence and Emergency Management has lifted the Marine and Beach tsunami threat warning for Taranaki and many other parts of New Zealand, though it remains in place in some eastern areas of both islands.
However, Taranaki people are still urged to exercise caution when in or near coastal waters.
GNS Science has advised large aftershocks may occur. It is possible these may be felt in Taranaki.
