New bus services keep Nelson, Christchurch connected
Long distance bus company InterCity has announced two new daily bus services between Nelson and Christchurch in the wake of the recent South Island earthquakes.
With the coastal State Highway 1 route closed, the new services will travel via Hanmer Springs, Springs Junction and Murchison.
“The new services will help keep our South Island communities connected, for both locals and international visitors,” says InterCity Group General Manager of Coaching Sam Peate.
“We are continuing to monitor the situation around Kaikoura and are looking to restore services as soon as possible.”
The new services are available for travel from Friday 25 November onwards and full timetables can be viewed at www.intercity.co.nz.
InterCity’s morning services between Christchurch and Picton will continue to travel via the alternative Lewis Pass route, while afternoon services remain cancelled until further notice.
