Kaikoura Emergency Access Route Update for Friday

CDEM Canterbury is hoping to open the Kaikoura Emergency Access Route (Inland Road) between 1pm and 3pm on Friday. If opened it would be for one-way travel from Kaikoura south.
The details will depend on weather conditions and the safety situation on the ground. An update will be issued as early as possible tomorrow morning.
Safety is the first priority for drivers, passengers as well as contractor crews working on repairing the route.
Around 100 drivers have pre-registered their intention to travel the route when opened.
