61 Molesworth “Deconstruction”: Week
2
Photography by Liana PantaleoIt’s been over a week since work began to demolish the earthquake-damaged building in Wellington; the expectation is that the job would be completed within 10-14 days (“weather permitting”).
At this point it looks like only 1/6 of the building has been added to a growing pile of rubble on the ground when council predicted that the job would be half completed by this point.
I'm beginning to wonder, is this initial stage just “the hard part” of the demolition, and will the remainder will be much quicker? Will this undoubtedly complex work be completed within the expected timeframe? When will affected residents and employees of the surrounding community be able to resume regular life?
