Gisborne
A minivan has crashed at Wharekopae near Gisborne
injuring eight people. They have all been transported to
Gisborne Hospital and are being treated.
The accident
happened at approximately 6.30am this morning (Thursday 19
January).
The seven men and one woman are all being assessed and are all currently in a stable condition (9.30am).
Contingency planning means that Gisborne Hospital is staffed to cope with such an incident despite being in the middle of a strike by Junior Doctors. The care of those involved in the accident has not been compromised in anyway by the strike.
