Mangawhai Water Supplies
Kaipara District Council (KDC) is pleased to announce that support has been arranged to assist the Mangawhai community access water deliveries to their water tanks that are running dry through the lack of recent rain.
With the kind assistance of Fonterra and Whangarei District Council (WDC), water is being loaded onto Fonterra tankers at WDC’s Ruakaka water facility and trucked in bulk to Mangawhai to local water contractors for residential delivery.
“By supplementing the availability of local bulk water in Mangawhai, more deliveries can be made per day, as the local trucks will not need to travel to Wellsford or Snells Beach for supplies”, said KDC Chief Executive Graham Sibery. “Hopefully this will help more homes in Mangawhai obtain water deliveries as soon as possible”.
The first delivery of bulk water was made at noon today.
"The co-operation from Fonterra in re-deploying a tanker, and WDC for permitting access to the Ruakaka water supplies has made this possible and is greatly appreciated", said Mr Sibery.
Normal arrangements for delivery to residents continue to apply, and residents should contact their usual suppliers.
