Town centre upgrade sees changes to car
parking
The Whitianga town centre upgrade has, since
inception, included the reconfiguration of car parking in
the Whitianga Town Centre area.
Now that the concept plans for the upgrade have been completed it has been possible to draft plans for the changes on Albert Street and its side streets.
The plans show the new car parks to be created to compensate for the reduction on Albert Street.
"We have a draft of proposed options where additional parking can be created on Monk St, Lee St and Hannan St, through either reconfiguring the existing layout of car parks or introducing parks where there wasn't any before," says Allan Tiplady our Mercury Bay Area Manager.
Up to 59 car parks are looking to go from the main street and Taylor's Mistake area, but additional parks will be created on side streets.
