Otago crash closes highway – State Highway 87 Middlemarch to Kyeburn, at Kokonga, detour route via Waipiata

The Police Serious Crash Unit will be attending a single car crash on State Highway 87, at Kokonga, near the intersection with Mundell Road near the Taieri River. The crash occurred earlier this morning before 7 am.

This highway could be closed until mid this afternoon so drivers are encouraged to bear this in mind.

Drivers should follow the posted detour via Waipiata to the west which may add an additional half hour to their journey. Traffic volumes along this route are generally low – 400 daily.
