Pukerua Bay School Village Fair

Media release

Pukerua Bay School Village Fair

For immediate release

2 March 2017

Fans of Celtic, Rock and Country music will appreciate the sweet sounds of well-known band In Like Flynn at this year’s Pukerua Bay School Village Fair on Saturday 18 March, 11am to 3pm.

Principal, Tara Taylor-Jorgensen says a great Celtic band is sure to get a few toes tapping. “But equally, come enjoy the other entertainment we’ll be presenting, including our children singing in the choir. They love performing and have been singing at a local rest home, which is really well received.”

Tara TJ says the school is alive with activity, getting ready for the Fair. “All of the usual stalls are returning – including toys, clothing, bric-a-brac, plants, books, crafts and the silent auction, as well as great coffee and delicious ‘homemade in Pukerua Bay’ whitebait fritters and other food.”

“There’s lots of activities to keep children and those young at heart busy, with a big slide, bouncy castle, Bubble Soccer and Fairy & Elf Land. The Hot Rod display from Western Bays Rodders is back, as well as great prizes up for grabs at the mystery key stall, spin-the-wheel and raffle. “

Tara TJ says money raised from this year’s Fair will go towards creating a bike track as well as more outdoor learning spaces.

“The staff, children and I are very excited about having our own bike track. The children have been spending their lunchtimes creating bike jumps using materials they’ve found. A decent bike track will be extremely well-received and the benefits to our PE and Health programmes will be huge! We can’t wait!”

“I’m amazed at how well the Fair does each year. We’re not the biggest school, but we certainly behave like we are. We put on a fantastic day, so come along and enjoy the atmosphere.”
