Wellington Based Westpac Rescue Helicopter Winched Injured Tramper
This morning at 0630 the Wellington Based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Haurangi Hut in the Orongorongo River to retrieve an injured tramper with chest injuries.
The Helicopter responded with a Wellington Free Ambulance Paramedic on board.
The tramper was located at the Haurangi Hut. The Paramedic was winched down to the patients location where he was treated for his injuries and set up for the winch back into the Helicopter.
Once the Paramedic and Patient were both back on board the Helicopter the patient was flown to Wellington Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
