Inequality in NZ: Our Social Responsibility?
Fiona Roberts, a Year 13 student from Raphael House Rudolf Steiner School, is organising a forum about inequality in NZ as part of her research project.
This forum will bring together 4-5 speakers (to be confirmed) from local community-based groups who work in supporting those facing the daily challenges that come with not having enough to make ends meet. Several of the topics which will be explored are:
1. What factors have contributed to a rise in
inequality in recent years? How does this affect young
people in particular?
2. How access to basic needs (food,
well-being, housing) can improve emotional well-being.
3.
How community development can be a means to move forward in
a supportive environment.
4. Our social responsibility:
What are we as citizens of New Zealand doing to support
those facing hardships. Are we doing enough?
5. What
legacy are we leaving behind for future generations to deal
with?
Tuesday 20 June 7-9pm, Petone Baptist Church, 38 Buick Street, Petone, Lower Hutt.
