ILT Kidzone festival ‘Out of this World’ in
2017
Every year ILT Kidzone
shoots for the stars – but 2017 promises to be truly
‘Out of this World’.
The family favourite, six-day festival is preparing for the lift-off of its 13th season from Wednesday July 12 to Monday July 17, 10:30am – 3:30pm each day.
Venture Southland ILT Kidzone Festival Director Claire Blau said the ‘Out of this World’ theme reflected a range of new activities added to this year’s line-up which incorporates elements of technology, 3D and space.
“The new activities are designed to inspire kids’ creativity and imagination.”
Tickets for the festival are on sale now and early demand had been strong, she said.
Children and their parents attending the festival can expect a line-up of more than 150 activities, entertainers, roving aliens, some intriguing new challenges, and most-loved festival favourites.
Famous in Southland and beyond, the festival provides winter school holiday adventures for Southland families in their own region and encourages many families to visit Southland to attend the fun kid-focused festival, Blau said.
“The festival is jam-packed with hands-on activities, things to create and take home, and performances to remember.”
Tickets have remained at $15 per person per day, with under two-year-olds free. Tickets are available from the Invercargill i-SITE, Southland District Council area offices, the Gore Visitor Centre and at www.iltkidzone.co.nz
Blau said the event could not go ahead without the support of the strong volunteer army, with more than 150 volunteers giving up their time to help out throughout the six days.
“The volunteers are the lifeblood of the festival and without them the event would not be possible,” she said.
Volunteer registrations are now open, with people able to
register either online at the ILT Kidzone website or by
picking up a volunteer application from the Venture
Southland office in Spey
Street.
