Manawatu Defence Hub and Manawatu Chamber of Commerce Join Ranks

15th December 2017 - The Manawatu Defence Hub is amalgamating as a “Special Interest Group” within the Manawatu Chamber of Commerce to further strengthen the Defence Hub in preparation for future growth.

The Manawatu Defence Hub remains a unique organisation in New Zealand as it represents regional industry in a recognised relationship with the New Zealand Defence Force, sharing information first hand; with the objective to continue, strengthen and capitalise on this relationship.

“The Manawatu Defence Hub has been a stalwart supporter of the New Zealand Defence Force and Defence activity generally for more than 20 years. The Manawatu Defence Hub and the Manawatu Chamber of Commerce have similar objectives in promoting business activity in the region and the opportunity to amalgamate is a logical progression in the growth and development of Hub activities.” said Graham Poucher, Chair, Manawatu Defence Hub.

The Manawatu Chamber of Commerce is a respected membership organisation representing, advocating on behalf of, and championing the Regional Business Community. It is well placed to support the ambitions of the Manawatu Defence Hub. The Manawatu Chamber of Commerce is one of 30 Chambers across New Zealand representing the interests of over 12000 businesses nationwide and with strong international connections.

Both the Defence Hub and the Chamber have good relationships with regional stakeholders, including Councils and the Central Economic Development Agency (CEDA). The Manawatu Defence Hub will retain its name and executive.

“As the Defence Centre of New Zealand the role that the Manawatu Defence Hub has is an imperative for our Region. We are delighted to be part of their future, as these are exciting times for both organisations and we look forward to working together in 2018.” said Amanda Linsley, CEO, Manawatu Chamber of Commerce.
