Kaikoura Civil Defence Update 7: Inland Road closed and what to do if flood waters are rising nearby.
The Inland
Road (Route 70) is now closed.
The heavy rainfall is also causing flooding in various areas across the District.
Residents in low lying areas or areas at risk of flooding should keep an eye on water level and be prepared to evacuate if needed. Remember to have a grab back of supplies including any important medicines and to make arrangements for pets or livestock.
If you feel unsafe, you should self-evacuate, do not wait to be told.
