Vector update Saturday 4PM - Around 1100 without power
Media update Saturday 4PM
There are around 1100 customers without power across Auckland. Damage has been caused by trees or branches falling onto power lines, in one case pulling a power pole down, and including a car crashing into a power pole.
Our crews are responding to incidents once it is safe to do so. Currently we have crews responding to all known outages, with extra crews on hand should conditions worsen. While we are attending to all known outages, further strong winds and heavy rain are expected this evening and we are monitoring the situation closely.
It’s important to stay well clear of any downed power lines or damaged electrical equipment and treat power lines as live at all times. In addition, take care trees which may have been damaged in the just earlier this month.
If you see damaged trees directly on or very close to power lines please report this to Vector via their call centre – 0508 VECTOR (0508 832 867).
Anyone concerned by weakened or damaged trees on public land are urged to contact Auckland Council on 09 301 0101.
Customers can call 0508 VECTOR (0508 832 867) for information about outages or check vector.co.nz.
