Weather warning - 3.30pm

Three sections of the State
Highway network are now closed across Thames-Coromandel as
rain and high winds continue this afternoon.
• SH25
closed at Manaia due to flooding
• SH25 Whitianga to
Kaimarama closed due to flooding
• SH25A Kopu- Hikuai
closed due to a slip (pictured above)
NZTA has also been advised that SH25 Thames Coast Rd 3km south of Tapu has both lanes blocked due to a slip, and is currently investigating.
The Waikato Regional Council warns more roads could be closed later this afternoon as a result of rising river levels and the king tide at 8:45pm.
This could affect SH25 at Thames, SH2 in the Karangahake Gorge and SH25A at Hikuai.

Heavy rain warnings remain in place for the Coromandel, according to MetService.
Motorists are advised to take extreme care on the roads and not to attempt to drive through flood waters.
Power is reported to be out around Port Jackson. Check the Powerco website for updates.
Residents in Matatoki are being asked to conserve water rising stream levels have blocked drinking water at the Matatoki intake.
Updates on this and when we will be able to resume taking drinking water from the stream will be made available through our Facebook page.
