New Chief Executive Named For YWCA Auckland

Dellwyn Stuart has been announced as the new Chief Executive for YWCA Auckland. She will replace Monica Briggs who left the organisation for a new role in August.

Dellwyn brings 20 years of experience in chief executive or senior leadership roles in both the public and private sector. She joins the YWCA from the Auckland Foundation where she has been the Chief Executive for the past two years. During her tenure she has delivered compelling new initiatives to support generous Aucklanders to champion the causes they care about. This includes the Women’s Fund which channels the generosity of a community of women to improve the prospects and equity for all Auckland’s women and girls.

Prior to the Auckland Foundation, Dellwyn worked at Cure Kids as their Interim CEO following her role as their Fundraising and Philanthropy Director where she managed a substantial capital campaign establishing a Chair in Child and Adolescent Mental Health.

“I’m delighted to be joining the team at the Y in a time of renewed energy for gender equality and the empowerment of young women. There remain stubborn challenges for girls and women and I look forward to building on the YWCA’s 160 year legacy of empowerment to take the Y to a new level of impact.”

President of the YWCA Auckland, Dr Andrea Vujnovich is delighted to announce the new Chief Executive appointment. “Dellwyn has a genuine passion for women’s issues and brings a warm, principled quality of leadership which will greatly enhance the success of the team’s work at the YWCA Auckland” she says. “She is ideally qualified to lead our advocacy for a gender equal future and will work with our staff, board, membership and affiliates to bring the principles of the Y to greater effect for New Zealand women ”, she added.

Dellwyn will continue, in a pro bono capacity, to champion the Women’s Fund movement throughout New Zealand.

Dr Vujnovich also acknowledged the support of the YWCA Auckland Board through the recruitment process and offered her appreciation to Acting CEO, Kat Doughty who has led the organisation since February.

Dellwyn Stuart will begin her role as Chief Executive on 14 January 2019 while Kat Doughty will continue to manage the YWCA Auckland until the end of 2018.

Supporters of the organisation will get a chance to meet Dellwyn and to get a snapshot of the past year’s successes at the Annual General Meeting from 4.30 pm on 29 October at the Ellen Melville Hall in Auckland.
