New Faces Join Chamber Board

The Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce will have three new faces on the Board for 2018/19, says Chief Executive Leeann Watson.

"With three long-serving Board members standing down this year, along with the normal cycle of Board membership, we have had seven positions up for election this year. As a result, we had one of the largest fields for a Board election we’ve ever had, with 19 strong candidates standing," said Ms Watson.

"The three retiring Board members, Stephen Collins, Peter Davie and Dr Rod Carr, have a combined 48 years on The Chambers’ Board, supplementing their extensive experience in the business world and their long records of service to the Canterbury region."

Members voted via an electronic voting system, managed by Electionz.com. The results were announced at today’s Chamber AGM, held at Westpac’s new headquarters in Christchurch.

The seven successful board candidates are:

-Andrew Logie, Andrew Logie Ltd (current Board member)

-Jenni Callaghan, EY (current Board member)

-Erin Black, Beca (current Board member)

-Shaun Hubbard, AECOM (current Board member)

-Craig Latimer, NZ Trade and Enterprise

-Trevor Edwards, Superheat

-Olivier Lacoua, Novotel Christchurch Airport

They will join the incumbent board members Benjamin Badger of KPMG, Stephen Bateman of JSP Logistics, Amy Carter of Perception PR and Marketing, Carl Davidson of Research First and current President Hugh Lindo of Simpson Grierson.

"The Chamber was also pleased to announce two new life members at the AGM. Former Chamber CEO Peter Townsend and Lyttelton Port Company CEO Peter Davie were endorsed as Life Members of The Chamber by the membership following their years of outstanding service. We’re proud to recognise the contribution these two stalwarts of the business community have made to both The Chamber and the Canterbury region," said Ms Watson.

"This year has been another great one for The Chamber, with a strong financial result and positive membership growth and engagement, resulting in greater value to our members. With the election of our new Board, we are well placed to deal with the changing environment and future challenges that our members’ face, and continue the success that makes the Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce the home and voice of Canterbury Business," says Leeann Watson.
