What to expect at the Auckland Night Noodle Markets

The Night Noodle Markets is kicking off at Auckland’s Victoria Park in less than four weeks time. Running for 10 nights from 23 November to 2 December and featuring a mouth-watering lineup of local and international vendors, family-friendly entertainment and exciting activities, Stuff Events Operations Manager David Blackwell says that supercity residents are in for a real treat at this year’s festival.

“We’ve got more stallholders than we’ve ever had and the mix of entertainment and activations from our sponsors is sure to make this Night Noodle Markets a truly memorable one.”

The 21 vendors include Auckland favourites House of Dumplings, Indochine Kitchen and award-winning White + Wong’s, as well as last year’s Top Chopsticks winner, Hoy Pinoy, who’s crossing the ditch again with their crowd-pleasing BBQ skewers. Sydney-based Puffle is making their Auckland debut, serving up their spicy Korean fried chicken cheese waffles that were a must-try at the Wellington Night Noodle Markets earlier this year. With vegan-only vendor KrishnaFest and many others catering to dietary requirements, there’s sure to be something for everyone.

“We hand-pick all of our vendors to make sure we’ve got an array of traditional and modern Asian flavours - even connoisseurs will find something refreshingly different,” says Blackwell.

“But it’s not just about the food.”

Lion dancers, taiko drummers, stilt walkers and costume performers add to the fun and make for an authentic Asian festival experience. On top of that, renowned tribute performer Paul Madsen and singer-songwriter Indyah Madsen will take the stage on various nights, ramping up the entertainment factor.

For the first time, there will also be free wifi at the event.

“Now event-goers can get online without worrying about chewing up too much data. We’ve also got a cool new Snapchat filter, so it’s easier than ever to share the Night Noodle Markets experience,” says Blackwell.

People can vote for their favourite vendor and go in the draw to win a return trip to Singapore with Singapore Airlines’ Top Chopsticks competition. There will also be a brand new interactive luggage display from Singapore Airlines with another great holiday package to Asia up for grabs.

Major event partner Ford will be on site with their 2019 range, including the Ranger Raptor and Mustang Bullitt™, plus other fun activities for the family in the Ford Noodle Lounge.

At the bar this year is award-winning brewer Moa Beer and Crafters Union Wine with their range of environmentally-friendly cans, and Coca-Cola Amatil is serving their range of non-alcoholic beverages straight from the Coke Caravan.

Innocent Packaging is returning, with all vendors using biodegradable packaging from the supply partner. Along with Moa and Crafters Union canned beverages, Blackwell is doubling-down on the Night Noodle Markets’ environmental initiatives, aiming to divert at least 79.5% of all event waste from landfill.

“Stuff Events is an industry leader in environmentally friendly and sustainable events,” says Blackwell. “Since starting the Night Noodle Markets in 2016, we’ve made real headwind in this space and are continuing that momentum in this round of events.”

The markets open at 4pm and close at 10pm each night (9pm on the final day). Entry is free and food options range from $5 to $20. All ages are welcome, and dogs are allowed on leashes. The event is completely cashless; all vendors will accept major credit and debit cards (excluding AMEX), and have contactless, Apple Pay and Google Pay facilities.
