Westland District Council Annual Report 2017/18
31 October 2018
The adoption of the 2017/18 Westland District Council Annual Report by Council has been delayed. Council expects to adopt the Annual Report within the next two weeks.
The delay has been caused by an Audit New Zealand interpretation difference from the 2016/17 Annual report, requiring Council to restate the previous year’s landfill provision. Westland District Council has been working with a new audit director who has interpreted the accounting treatment of the landfill provision differently in the 2017/18 Annual Report. The 2016/17 audit management report stated that the accounting treatment for the landfill provision was correct. Audit New Zealand has accepted that the change in treatment is in part to having a new audit director and have accepted accountability.
