Roadside grass fires close SH8 between Twizel and Tekapo
The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists that State Highway 8 in the South Island is closed by a number of grassfires between Twizel and Tekapo.
The grass fires were set off when a truck caught fire east of the intersection of SH8 and SH80, the main road to Mt Cook.
There are no detours in the immediate area and motorists are advised to avoid the area or delay their travel. At this stage, it’s not known how long the road will be closed.
