Restrictions remain over the weekend
The main water supply from the Waingake treatment plant is now running, but it will take several days to restore the city reservoirs to a level that meets demand.
In the meantime people will still need to continue to restrict their outdoor water use.
Level 4 restrictions will remain in place over the weekend - this means no sprinklers or hoses should be used and commercial users should be making efficiencies.
We do thank everyone who has made an effort to conserve water with such high temperatures yesterday and today, but we ask everyone to please remind neighbours and whanau of these restrictions to help keep demand low while reservoirs are being refilled.
Some rain is forecast for Saturday evening and will help towards keeping people’s gardens watered and reducing the demand.
The Waipaoa supply will also run over the weekend to help replenish the reservoirs.
People should also be aware water may look milky but it’s all ok to drink. More information is available on our website.
We’ll reassess the restrictions on Monday.
