Rat control at Oneroa Walkway
Council has received numerous reports by members of the public about sightings of rats along the Oneroa walkway.
Staff will lay enclosed bait traps from tomorrow between Roberts Road and Beacon Reserve to control the infestation.
While the bait will be set inside tubes and under the board walk where dogs and other animals can’t access them, we remind people to please ensure dogs are on leashes when using the area.
Staff will also complete a sweep of the area daily to remove any dead rats.
Increases in the rat population have been reported all over the country with the warmer weather lasting for longer.
