Good progress towards Friday, 12 April,
opening of Waiho River Bailey bridge
The NZ Transport Agency’s Bailey bridge building team is onto the third span of the seven span bridge at the Waiho River, South Westland.
The teams on both sides of the river are still working towards reopening the Waiho River Bailey bridge in a week’s time, Friday, 12 April, says Pete Connors, System Manager for the Transport Agency.
The Transport Agency will be updating the timeframe at the end of this weekend, when it has a clearer idea of any delays and the old bridge spans have been fully removed.

of the river but points across to the Bailey bridge

Both Franz Josef and Fox Glacier townships, as well as Haast, are open, welcome visitors, and people can still access the glaciers via helicopter/ flight once they are there.
